Princess Rita is a special-needs kitten who is desperately in need of help! She was born
in a vacant house in late fall or early winter of last year. Princess Rita and her littermates
fell ill with a viral infection during the first week of their lives. This illness resulted in total
loss of sight for Rita and partial visual impairment for her brother. Although her brother
has been adopted and has adjusted quite well to his limitations, Princess Rita needs to
have surgery on her eyes, which were damaged by the virus, before her adoption can be
finalized. (She has a family who are very much interested in her.) Ellicott Animal Hospital
has generously agreed to perform the surgery at a fraction of its actual cost. However, we
need donations to cover this expense. Please help Princess Rita to have the happiness
and health that she deserves! Your support is much-needed and will be greatly
appreciated!  To donate for Princess Rita or other cats, please

I don't know how many of you have heard of Cafe Press, but organizations can open their
own stores there and sell T-shirts, mugs, christmas ornaments, bags, etc. with their own
designs.  So first we talked to Sheryl from
Sheryl's Studios.  She has wonderful artwork,
and she made our banners.  And she was nice enough to offer use of her artwork for
mugs and T-shirts free of charge and even set it up for us.  Well, we decided to open a
store, and went there to set up and got an unpleasant surprise... you really need to have
graphic arts experience for this...a company called Art Paw has generously offered to
help us.  They will be setting up our store for us in early May, so watch for more
information.

We got an email from a woman who does paintings of pets, and she offered us a free
painting to auction off.  Can you believe this... Her website is
yourpaintedpets so do stop
there and look at her paintings.  The auction is set up... go to
KaBid.com to check out our
auction and/or place a bid.  Bidding ends 5/7/04.

We have a drop off/collection box at
Dog Days of Buffalo (a doggy daycare
center/boarding center), 632 Amherst Street (near Elmwood), so if you want to make a
donation of catfood/litter for our shelter, you can drop it off there.

Come and see us at Elmwood Pets (706 Elmwood Ave) on Sat, May 8th.   We will have
craft items to buy, gifts for your cat, and you can get information on our group.
